The grammar page
The information in this section is basically an html version of the book "an introduction to Japanese syntax, grammar and language", which is freely downloadable from this website. My intention is to have this content searchably online, but for now only a few chapters are online, so you will have to wait a bit before the entire book is viewable online in html form - in the meantime you'll have to do with the pdf version ^^
The chapters
- 1. General introduction to Japanese as a language
- 2. Verb grammar
- 3. Verbal adjective grammar
- 4. Formality
- 5. Nouns and noun adjectives
- 6. All conjugation schemes
- 7. Particles and modifiers (including counters)
- 8. Phrase constructions
As with the lessons, I have opted to use mouse-over furigana rather than real furigana for the html pages (the pdf version does use normal furigana) - this is normal html behaviour rather than javascript, so for those of you who for some mad reason block javascript integrally: you can still get this functionality (now go install a proper javascript manager instead of just turning it off, it's a normal internet feature, not just something using by porn and warez sites to lure you into clicking on things you never wanted to even see on your computer...)
Should you spot any errors such as typos or, worse, blatantly wrong explanations of material that you think I need to address (in the latter case, urgently) then you can drop me an email through the contact link, or you can post a message on the forum about what you spotted. Aside from that: enjoy the material.
